Soccer Elite Introduces Comprehensive Injury Prevention Program for Female Teams
Sep 23 2008 - Mike Orth
Soccer Elite Club Introduces Comprehensive Injury Prevention Program for Female Teams
The data unfortunately supports the need for a comprehensive preventive program. An estimated 150,000 Americans suffer from
ACL injuries (source: American Journal of Sports Medicine) each year in the United States. A growing number of them are female athletes. Girls are for to eight times more likely than boys to injure the ACL. Experts believe that there are many different reasons that the chances are higher for girls including width of the pelvis, angulation of the hips and knees, hormones but mostly the technique girls land on the ground. There is support that a well controlled
training program can improve on something that may not come naturally.
